Finalist: Skin Cancer Detector

The Skin Cancer Detector uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to detect skin cancers such as melanoma in their early stages and improve survival rates.

The project will run a convolutional neural network (CNN) pre-trained in Tensorflow to identify cancerous tissues on the Renesas RZ/A1 Stream-it! development kit. The input image will be fed through the CNN-based image classification program, and fed as an input to Renesas’ e-AI translator. The e-AI translator then generates C source code and header files from the CNN session, which are integrated with the Renesas RZ/A Software Package and FreeRTOS. The neural network output is displayed on the Stream-it! development kit’s companion LCD.
